MAD WASP RADIO IS NOW 7 YEARS OLD!

At 6pm on Friday 8 September 2017, the strains of Panic by The Smiths rang out across the Internet to herald the launch of Mad Wasp Radio. Thankfully no DJs have been hung since then, though there might have been a couple of candidates!

Amongst the DJs that featured on our opening week’s schedule were John Armstrong, Rob Walker, Jonny Steingold, Danny Gray, Alan May, Mike Pougounas, Mark Langdon, and Frank Broeders, while Sarah Lewis’s My 80s featured a quizmaster by the name of Alan Read – all of whom you can still hear every week on the station. And in John Armstrong’s case, he has produced a new Tuning Up show for every week of our existence – all 366 of them!

This year also saw Samantha Marcus and Darren Nichols broadcast live with Deeper 80s, Pistols To Pulp and Mad Wasp XS on the station with audience requests and interaction on X and Bluesky.

Thank you to them and ALL our other fabulous DJs who continue to fill the Mad Wasp airwaves with such a wonderful and varied selection of shows.

And a massive thank you to all our listeners right across world – without you Mad Wasp Radio would have been lucky to last seven weeks, let alone seven years.

Today, Mad Wasp Radio stands as one of the most widely respected Internet stations around, so congratulations to everyone who have helped get us there.

PIRATES OF THE AIRWAVES!

The buzz around Mad Wasp Radio continues to grow. The station was recently mentioned in an article on the Express newspaper website about the rise of online radio stations… describing them as the modern equivalent of sixties pirate radio!

They may have a got a little confused over a few of the facts – we started up back in 2017 – but the fact they decided to feature us underlines just how popular we’re becoming!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT - NEW MUSIC SUBMISSIONS

For bands, promoters and agents sending in new music - please note that we would appreciate that you send us a short bio along with a track(s) (mp3 format preferred). We have started to receive a lot of emails asking that we listen to a Spotify link and get back to you if we think that your track is suitable for our station. We don't do Spotify and we simply do not have the resource to be able to reply to everyone but we guarantee that any track and info that gets sent to us will immediately be forwarded to the relevant DJs.
